Protocols for tailor stores (for both men and women)
Epidemiological surveillance
- The temperature of customers and workers should be checked before entering the store with a device approved by the SFDA and asking about any respiratory symptoms (cough or shortness of breath).
- Train officials at checkpoints on the method of test performing and the use of thermometers.
- Prevent customers who have a high temperature or respiratory symptoms from entering the store.
- Customer data (name and mobile number) must be kept in a special record for a period of no less than two weeks in order to facilitate reference in the process of epidemiological investigation
- Any condition that has high temperature or respiratory symptoms (coughing or shortness of breath) suspected of having Covid-19 must be reported with the specification data and case contact numbers to transfer the case to the hospital and immediately call 937 to find out the directions required to transfer the case to the hospital.
- In the event that a confirmed case is registered among a worker, the following actions must be followed:
- o Contact the General Directorate of Health Affairs in the same city or call 937 to report a confirmed case at the workplace
- o Ensure that there is no source of infection by examining and isolating other workers.
- o Disinfect the infected individual’s work area
- o Collaborate with the MOH in the process of monitoring cases in contact with the confirmed case so that epidemiological investigation and quarantine procedures are applied in accordance with the procedures followed by the public health team
- In the event that there is housing for workers, it is preferable to prepare an isolation room for the suspected cases in their residence so that they are isolated until contacted by the competent authorities. (Please see the health conditions for workers’ housing to fight Covid-19).
- It is preferable to establish communication channels to report any breach of requirements and report violations in order to work to avoid them.
Awareness and Education
- Rely on official sources to obtain information about Coronavirus (official sources include: the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Saudi Center for Disease Prevention and Control (SCDC)).
- Awareness posters must be displayed in all entrances to tailor stores and prominent places, and must include the following:
- Introduction to the disease, how it spreads and the preventative measures to be taken.
- Awareness of handwashing, avoiding touching the eyes, nose and mouth before washing hands, and encourage attention to personal hygiene and health care
- Adherence to Hygiene and Cough etiquette (by using tissues and throwing them away immediately or coughing into the elbow and washing hands afterwards).
- Place a board containing a statement of the acts that violate the health requirements and how to report them.
- Urge those at higher risk of infection, such as the elderly and those with chronic diseases, to avoid going to tailor stores.
- Educate customers on the importance of washing clothes after receiving them from the tailor.
Prevention
- Prevention measures and instructions to protect customers from Coronavirus (Covid-19) must be displayed in the store.
- Require customers and employees to wear masks in the correct manner at all times when inside the tailor store.
- Stress compliance with the instructions and preventive measures in the store (the number of customers allowed in the store and the distance between customers).
- Reduce personal contact between customers and employees and wear masks when serving the customer.
- Children under 7 years old should not be allowed.
- When taking measurements and sizes, the tailor should avoid touching the customer’s body as much as possible and cleanse the hands before and after taking the measurement.
- With regard to women’s tailor shops located in beauty salons, it is necessary to prevent workers from rotating between the tailor store and beauty salon and restrict them to one department, as well as separate the waiting areas between the two services.
- Do not allow any worker who has influenza-like symptoms (fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat) to come to work and they must be isolated until they are examined and their symptoms are disappeared, according to the report of their treating doctor.
- Workers must follow the instructions on when, what and how to wear safety and personal protection tools and how best to dispose of them.
- Prohibit customers from trying clothes inside the tailor store
- Emphasis on frequent washing of hands with soap and water for at least 40 seconds, or sanitizing hands with approved sanitizers for a period of no less than 20 seconds when soap and water are not available.
- Provide workers and customers with safety and protection tools which include gloves and masks, and must be provided at the entrance.
Guidelines and requirements related to the target facility’s environment
- Hand sanitizers should be distributed and placed in prominent places such as the entrance to the store, cashier area, bathroom, and waiting area, if any.
- It is preferable to distribute hands sanitizer bottles to the trainees at the checkpoint, while placing an awareness poster explaining the method of hygienic hand disinfection and the need for disinfection before and after using the computer and its accessories or using electronic pens and drafts.
- Must ensure the availability of hand soap in the bathrooms and hand sanitizers must contain 60-80% alcohol and meets the requirements of the Saudi Food and Drug General Authority (SFDA).
- Must adhere to routinely disinfect surfaces with SFDA approved disinfectants (sodium hypochlorite or household chlorine disinfectant) and follow the directions indicated on the packages while focusing on the areas where contact is more likely, such as door handles, tables, seats, elevator keys, and others.
- All places and surfaces should be cleaned with soap and water before disinfecting them.
- Ensure that the bathrooms and toils are continuously cleansed with approved disinfectants.
- Follow the detailed instructions in the Practical Guide for Cleaning and Disinfection of Public Facilities to Fight Covid-19 Infection issued by the SCDC.
- Ensure good ventilation in all places, especially places of assembly, preferably use natural ventilation and reduce temperature in general.
- Must change or clean air filters for ventilation equipment, especially air conditioners, regularly.
- A record of the times of cleaning and disinfection of surfaces and toilets should be maintained.
- A distance of 1.5 meter must be kept in the cashier area between the customer and the tailor.
- Disinfect tools that multiple tailors may share, such as pens, measurement meters, sewing machines, and others.
- Trash cans and waste baskets that are used with no touching required should be provided, and the waste must be disposed of continuously.
- Dispose of the bags when receiving the clothes and emphasis on washing hands afterwards.
- Set different times for customers to receive their orders to avoid customer crowding in the store.
- Close fitting rooms and prohibit customers from trying out the clothes inside the store.
- Children (younger than 7 years) are not allowed to enter and their sizes should be taken by their mother or father at home or they should provide similar sized clothing from their clothes.
- It is preferable for adult customers to provide similar sized clothes from home to avoid dealing with tailors, especially for the elderly and those suffering from chronic diseases.
